New fares to go into effect May 18, 2009

New Bus Pass Options for Centro Riders

Auburn, NY – Centro customers in Auburn will soon be able to buy NEW Centro passes that allow riders multiple or unlimited ride options. Centro will debut weekly and monthly unlimited ride passes in Oswego County that offer customers unlimited rides for a pre-determined number of days – seven (7) calendar days for weekly passes and thirty (30) calendar days for monthly passes.  The unlimited ride passes have been a popular choice of Centro customers in Syracuse for years.

Customers can also purchase 10-ride passes that never expire.  These passes will be priced for adults ($7.50) and those who qualify for Centro’s reduced fares ($3.50).  Each of these new types of passes will be available when new fares - originally scheduled for May 4, 2009  - go into effect May 18, 2009.

“The new effective date is to allow proper manufacture and distribution of these new fare passes,” said Centro Executive Director Frank Kobliski.  “We want to make sure our customers are equipped with a full array of options when our new fares go into effect.”

Within the city of Auburn, the cost of an adult fare ride is increasing from $ .60 to $.75 cents and the cost of a reduced fare is increasing from $ .30 to $.35.

In addition to the unlimited and 10-ride passes, Centro customers can continue to purchase Centro debit cards. Centro will offer higher value cards of $15 and $30 to coincide with the new fares.

The new passes will be available the week prior to May 18, 2009 and can be purchased at:
