Freedom of Information Law (FOIL)

 
The Freedom of Information Law (“FOIL”), which is set forth in Article 6 of the Public Officers Law, allows members of the public to access certain existing governmental records. A Subject Matter Listing of records maintained by the Central New York Regional Transportation Authority (CNYRTA) may be viewed below. Please be advised that FOIL relates only to existing records that are not exempted from disclosure. Additional information regarding FOIL may be found on the Committee on Open Government website, located at http://www.dos.ny.gov/coog/

    Note: Please include a regular mailing address and telephone number in your request, even where the request is made electronically or by facsimile transmission.

    FOIL Procedure

    FOIL requests will be acknowledged within five (5) business days of receipt, granting or denying access or requesting additional time for the consideration of the request.

     
    Denials of access may be appealed by writing, within 30 days, to:

    We will provide a response within 10 business days after receiving a notice of appeal.
     



    The fee for copying documents is $0.25 per page or the actual cost of reproduction. The fee for other records will vary, depending upon the nature of the request. Payment must be made to CNYRTA by check or money order. The CNYRTA will use its discretion when determining whether or not to charge a requestor.

     

    Records are generally made available, by appointment, on each day that the offices are open, during regular business hours (between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.).
