- $158,669 to $177,350
Note: Starting salary is determined by evaluation of experience and qualifications for the position.
JOB SUMMARY: The Executive Vice President (EVP) is the principal deputy to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of the Authority’s Vice Presidents and their respective divisions. The EVP ensures that the Authority’s operational and administrative activities align with strategic objectives, Board directives, and organizational goals. This role emphasizes internal leadership, performance management, cross-departmental coordination, and oversight of internal controls to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of safe, reliable, and customer-focused transit services. Position is exempt.
DUTIES: - Serves as deputy to the CEO, suggesting, implementing, and administering approved Authority policies across all divisions.
- Supervises and directs Vice Presidents to ensure their departments meet performance, safety, and compliance goals.
- Maintains general knowledge of the overall operations of the CNYRTA and the inter-relationships between all departments and subsidiaries.
- Ensures accountability for operational performance, service reliability, and local, New York State and Federal regulatory compliance.
- Oversee the establishment, monitoring, and enforcement of internal controls across all divisions to ensure integrity, transparency, and compliance.
- Provides internal strategic guidance to ensure departmental objectives align with agency-wide goals and Board directives.
- Facilitate collaboration across departments to achieve efficiency, safety, and improved customer experience.
- Represents the CEO internally and externally when assigned, serving as acting CEO in their absence.
- Coordinates preparation of executive level reports, plans, and initiatives for the CEO and Board of Members.
- Leads organizational improvement initiatives including process innovation, workforce development, and performance management.
- Works closely with Vice Presidents to develop Vice Presidents, Directors, and Manager level staff to advance in the organization and to regularly meet with the CEO to discuss succession planning in each department.
- Serves as a key advisor to the CEO on organizational priorities, resource allocation, and executive-level decision-making.
- Promotes a culture of respect, integrity, safety, excellence, and service across all divisions.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in a related field required with a minimum of 9 years’ experience.
- Knowledge of organizational leadership, strategic planning, and executive management practices.
- Knowledge of public administration, policy implementation, and regulatory frameworks applicable to public transportation.
- Knowledge of transit operations, capital program delivery, and administrative functions.
- Knowledge of internal control principles, practices, and risk management frameworks.
- Knowledge of budget preparation, financial oversight, and organizational resource management.
- Knowledge of labor relations practices and personnel management principles.
- Skills in executive leadership, including supervision and development of senior management teams.
- Skill in aligning departmental performance with strategic objectives and performance metrics.
- Skill in organizational change management, process improvement, and innovation.
- Skill in written and oral communication, including preparing reports and presenting to executive leadership and the Board.
- Ability to foster collaboration across divisions, build internal consensus, and coordinate agency-wide initiatives.
- Ability to analyze complex organizational issues and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to act as the CEO’s deputy, providing seamless leadership continuity.
