Centro Ride Passes are a great way to save money and speed up the boarding process. Offering a variety to choose from - find the one that's right for you.
Why was I charged more than $1 when using tap-to-pay at the farebox?
Currently, when you tap your credit card, debit card, or mobile wallet to pay your fare, our system combines your ride charges throughout the day to keep processing efficient. You may notice a charge higher than $1 for the following reasons:
- Accumulated Rides: Tap to Pay transactions are processed and grouped together once your card reaches $10 in total ride charges.
- End-of-Day Settlement: If your total rides do not reach $10, all accumulated charges are processed automatically at the end of the day.
What to expect with our updated system:
- Same-Day Posting: Your transit transactions will post to your bank or credit card account on the same day you travel.
- Operational Alignment: Processing now matches our daily transit service operations rather than a 24-hour rolling clock.
- Statement Adjustments: You may notice a change in the exact time or day transactions appear on your financial statements.

Rules of Bus Pass Conduct
- Customer must be in possession of any unlimited ride pass (Day Pass or MAX Pass) while aboard the bus.
- Customers are prohibited from passing back their own unlimited ride pass to another customer when boarding the bus.
- Centro unlimited ride passes are non-transferable. All bus pass purchases are final. Centro does not offer refunds for misplaced or damaged bus passes.
- To avoid being victim of fraudulent or forged passes, customers should purchase fare passes only from Centro authorized sales outlets or ticket vending machines.
- Drivers will not honor fare passes that are damaged, mutilated, expired, or that are indicated as invalid on the fare box.
- Centro Supervisors have the authority to confiscate invalid passes and/or remove any person not following these rules.

Coming Soon: Fare Collection System Upgrade at Centro of Cortland
Centro of Cortland will soon begin installing new fareboxes on its fixed-route and paratransit vehicles as part of a systemwide effort to standardize fare collection technology across Centro's service area.

Mobile Payments & Ride Passes Not Accepted at This Time
Please note that mobile payments and digital fare media (such as phone apps or QR codes) are not currently accepted aboard Centro buses in Cortland.
Until further notice, please use cash, tokens, or single ride passes to pay your fare when boarding.
Tokens will not be sold after March 31, 2025. Tokens will continue to be accepted until they're out of circulation.
Reduced Fares
Seniors
Seniors age 65+ who show the driver either a valid Reduced Fare Photo ID or a combination of a Medicare Card and photo ID upon boarding the bus. Seniors may also purchase a Permanent Centro Reduced Fare Photo ID.
Children Ages 6 to 9
Children ages 6 to 9 who are accompanied by a paying Adult.
