Manager of Fleet Technology and Systems - Syracuse

DEPARTMENT: Syracuse Maintenance

SALARY RANGE: Grade: 7 - $72,287 to $80,798

Note:  Starting salary is determined by evaluation of experience and qualifications for the position and will be set at some point on the pay scale.

JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for improving the processes of repairs/preventative maintenance in the maintenance department which includes working with IT for all maintenance - computers, Diagnostic software and Clever Device maintenance. Position is exempt.
DUTIES:
  1. Develop and implement training programs and SOP’s pertaining to the work processes performed in various maintenance departments such as electrical, preventive maintenance programs, etc.
  2.    Provide instruction and education to maintenance staff on use of diagnostic software programs and training websites.
  3.    Participates in the training of new hire bus operators regarding the technical operation of the bus to ensure safe operation of the vehicle.
  4.    Manage maintenance department laptop computers training process including installation and updating several software programs and hardware. Maintain operation of all programs, licensing, and adaptors for laptops at all properties.
  5.    Assist IT with general use computers for all maintenance properties.
  6.    Assist all Maintenance personnel with maintenance website and maintenance diagnostic programs and software by answering random technical calls
  7.    Monitors performance of test vehicles and new parts testing and makes recommendations to supervisor regarding same.
  8.    Assist the Director of Fleet Maintenance in creating bus specifications.
  9.    Coordinate campaign recalls and assists the Inventory Control Manager /` Warranty Administrator with claim forms and completion of recall.
  10. Responsible for monitoring changes to regulations and procedures that impact training needs and communicating those changes to supervisor and to maintenance staff.
  11. Assist maintenance staff with equipment repairs and upgrades and supervise those processes as needed.
  12. Assist Director of Fleet Maintenance with development of current testing protocols for all levels of technician.
  13. Responsible for daily maintenance reports and repairs related to Clever Device. Create, monitor, and follow up on Clever reports and Repairs related to reports generated.
  14. Assist in updating and maintaining Preventative Maintenance program including procedure changes ensuring parts and procedures are uniform to all properties.
  15. Works with manufacturers and vendors responsible for follow up regarding product reliability, performance, warranty, and product updates.
REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required; Associates Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and applicable experience.

  1. Knowledge of engine operation and mechanics for a variety of vehicles and equipment.
  2. Knowledge of repair principles and procedures for diesel-powered and CNG engines.
  3. Knowledge of electrical system repair procedures.
  4. Knowledge of supervisory techniques.
  5. Skill in diagnosing mechanical problems for a wide variety of vehicles and equipment.
  6. Skill in the use of a computer.
  7. Skill in oral and written communication
