Introduction to OSCAR
Through funding from the Onondaga County Dept. of Adult & Long Term Care Services, Centro's Specialized Transportation Department provides ride services for seniors who are 60+ and reside in Onondaga County.
Eligibility
Eligible seniors must be pre-registered to participate in the OSCAR program. To request an application, please call the Specialized Transportation Department at (315) 442-3434, Monday - Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm.
The OSCAR service cannot be used for medical transportation if the customer is eligible for Medicaid. Please contact your Medicaid worker for assistance to medical appointments.
Service Area
OSCAR provides public transportation Monday - Friday between 7:00am and 7:00pm to/from origins and destinations within Onondaga County that are not serviced by Centro's regular route service. This service is not available on weekends or holidays.
Service
Effective March 1, 2016 eligible seniors may receive:( 2 ) round trips per month or ( 4 ) one-way trips per month
The number of trips per month is subject to change depending on available funding.
Fare
Seniors using the OSCAR program are not required to pay a fare to use the service. However, voluntary contributions are accepted and used to expand services. While OSCAR Senior Transportation suggested contributions are $2.00 per trip, contributions in any amount are welcomed. Riders will not be denied service if unable or unwilling to contribute.
Trip Reservations
To request a ride once you have registered, please call: (315) 442-3420 at least 2 business days in advance.
Travel Training
Travel training is available to newly registered OSCAR customers upon request. For more information, please ask the Specialized Transportation Department representative when requesting an application or making your ride reservation
Accessible formats available, such as large print and braille are available upon request.
