Fleet Manager- 2nd shift - Syracuse

DEPARTMENT: Syracuse Maintenance

SALARY RANGE: Grade: 7 - $74,095 to $82,817

Note: Starting salary is determined by evaluation of experience and qualifications for the position.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance & repair of all authority vehicles and equipment. Position is exempt. Schedule is from Monday-Friday 2PM-10:30PM

DUTIES:
  1. Communicate with directors, managers, supervisors and foremen regarding current and future work assignments, and monitors employee productivity.
  2. Assist Director of Fleet Maintenance with all fleet vehicle repairs from the satellite facilities.  
  3. Assists and monitors analytical data from Clever Device reports, ensure that all defects are addressed promptly.  
  4. Prepare and analyze the preventative maintenance schedule for vehicle maintenance, oversees the repair work and
  5. monitor repairs tracking process. Ensure that all vehicle maintenance is being performed in accordance with OEM specifications.
  6. Perform quality control checks, review maintenance reports and comply with regulations to ensure that adequate maintenance of fleet vehicles is being performed.
  7. Oversees personnel records for employee discipline, leaves, paid time off. 
  8. Consults with union representatives to resolve labor issues as needed, issues discipline when required.
  9. Coordinates process and procedure with supervisory staff as it pertains to the fueling of vehicles and fuel analysis.
  10. Monitors the natural gas fueling system; documents activity and problem, prepares reports, secures leaks and reports to supervisors.
  11. Monitor and oversees the automate fuel manager system (Fleetwatch) and the oil analysis program.
  12. Assist with fleet vehicle warranty repairs, ensure that all defective parts are returned back to stock for warranty submittal.
  13. Perform other related duties as assigned.  
REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required with 5-7 years of experience; Associate degree preferred.

 

  1. Knowledge of engine operation and mechanics for a variety of vehicles and equipment.
  2. Knowledge of repair principles and procedures for diesel, gasoline and CNG-powered engines.
  3. Knowledge of air-conditioning system operation and repair and reclamation procedures.
  4. Knowledge of electrical system repair procedures.
  5. Skill in diagnosing mechanical problems for a wide variety of vehicles and equipment.
  6. Skill in the use of a computer
  7. Skill in oral and written communication.
  8. Knowledge of supervisory techniques.
  9. Skill in maintaining excellent employee relations.
