 Centro Begins Rural Bus Service in Oneida County

 

Starting October 7, 2024, Centro will launch its new intercity commuter service in Oneida County. The rural bus service will offer a connection between Utica, Rome, and the Turning Stone Casino. The new bus route, UT33 Utica-Rome-Turning Stone, will provide six round trips Monday-Saturday between 7:45am and 5:07pm, offering increased job-access for Oneida County residents.

SY84 Bus Route to Resume Service to Malden-Florida-Molloy Roads

 

Effective September 16, 2024, Centro will resume service to the Malden-Florida-Molloy Road corridor as part of its SY84 Mattydale-Airport bus line. The bus route was modified in September of 2023 on a trial basis to offer new service to Hancock International Airport. Going forward, each bus trip will serve the airport and the Malden-Florida-Molloy Road corridor as it had previously. 

Centro Announces New Tap to Pay Option

 

Centro has rolled out a contactless fare payment system aboard its transit buses in Onondaga, Oneida, Cayuga, and Oswego counties. The new Tap to Pay farebox feature provides customers with an additional option to pay for their rides. 

Centro to Begin Service to Syracuse Hancock Airport

 

Beginning September 5, 2023, Centro will begin a trial service, featuring 13 daily round trips each weekday to Syracuse Hancock International Airport from its Syracuse Transit Hub. The service will be part of a redesigned SY84 Mattydale bus route which operates 5am - 7:30pm weekdays. The first trip will arrive at the airport at 5:32am and the last will leave the airport around 7pm. 

Centro Partners with Veo to Expand E-Bike & E-Scooter Program to OCC

 

Centro has partnered with Veo to expand Syracuse's E-Bike and E-Scooter program beyond the city's borders to Onondaga Community College (OCC). The expansion means people who use Veo can now travel from inside the city limits all the way to and around the OCC campus.

Centro Bringing Bus Rapid Transit to Syracuse

 

As you may have heard, Centro is bringing Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to Syracuse. It will be the foundation of a reshaped Centro route system and will be the most significant financial investment in public transportation Central New York has seen in decades. 

Centro Restructuring Fares & Increasing Bus Service

 

On March 7, 2022, Centro will introduce new fares that will reduce transit costs for most Centro bus riders. In addition, the Authority will continue restoring service on various bus routes in Onondaga County and implement minor service changes for select routes in Auburn, Fulton, Oswego, Rome, and Utica.
